2012 Friends Foundation Ice Cream Social Gallery

Enjoy photos from the 2012 Friends Foundation Back to School Ice Cream Social.

The event took place on Friday, August 17 at the Huntley Area Public Library and included crafts, story times, a visit from a Police Officer, a School Bus and more.

Kids could sign-up to win a back to school backpack or lunchbox with a special drawing, create a door sign, play mini-golf and vote on their favorite ice cream flavor.

Over 200 families visited the library and participated in the event as the community prepares for the upcoming school year.

Thank you to those that attended and volunteered to make this event a success.

Stories Aboard The Titanic - Gallery

The Friends Foundation hosted actor R.J. Lindsey for a breakfast fundraiser on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

Lindsey portrayed Carr Van Anda, a New York Times Managing Editor during the era of the Titanic disaster.

Van Anda was on duty when the S.O.S. call was heard in the radio room.

The presentation detailed the ship's construction, luxurious accommodations, and events that unfolded on that fateful evening.

He provided accounts and stories of passengers from first, second and third classes, as well as details about their experiences after the sinking of the vessel.

Attendees enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and were treated to a Q & A after the presentation.

The Friends Foundation raised nearly $5000 from the event.
